Celebrity and vlogger Alex Gonzaga has defended fellow celebrities who have chosen to take on vlogging or create contents for the online platform, Youtube.
Gonzaga is one of the most followed personalities on Youtube with more than 4.5 million subscribers. Julia Barretto, Mariel Rodriguez, Melai Cantiveros and the Arrellano family also entered the world of vloggjng.
A netizen made a thread on Twitter, raising why prominent artists still create YouTube channels when they are already earning in ABS-CBN and GMA-7. “Bakit halos lahat ng mga sikat na artista may YouTube channel na? I mean, hindi pa ba sapat ang kinikita niyo sa ABS at GMA? Ibigay niyo na sa mga content creators,” a netizen wrote.
Gonzaga said celebrities also want to adapt to the demands of their Filipino fans. She also called on celebrities and non-celebrities to share the platform.
“As a celebrity and entertainer, sometimes you really have to adapt to what the viewers want and what your audience want. I think dapat we should share our platform and we should also be happy,” Gonzaga said. (Tristan Nodalo)
