Roads in Sharjah, Jebel Jais closed as heavy rains pound parts of UAE

Some roads in UAE were shut down as heavy rains lashed in the two days. Photos and videos circulated in social media showing floods in valleys and mountains in the northern emirates.

Motorists were advised to stay away from Wadi Al Helou as the road was closed by the Sharjah Police due to flash floods in the valley. The road leading to Jebel Jais was also closed by the Ras Al Khaimah Police, reported Khaleej Times.

The inclement weather is expected to continue until Wednesday, October 31.

According to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), heavy rains are occurring in the Sama area in Ras Al Khaimah; Wadi Al Sedar, Tibaa, and Al Khalibiya areas in Fujairah; Ghayathi in Al Dhafra; and Delma.

Meanwhile, authorities have warned residents to avoid going to valleys and mountains, following the death of a truck driver after his vehicle got swept away by flash floods in Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Qur Valley.
