Filipino guard in Sanfo shot dead while in line of duty

A Filipino security guard was shot while patrolling the Alice Griffith housing complex in Bayview District, San Francisco.

Rolando De Leon Romero was video-calling his wife in the Philippines when he heard two gunshots and called 911.

The 61-year old Romero was found by the police with multiple gunshot wounds and was brought to the hospital but the victim did not survive the encounter.

The 24-year old suspect, Cardell Mason Coleman was arrested by the San Francisco Police, reported KTVU.

There have been no reports as to the motive but the suspect was already booked in San Francisco county jail for homicide charges.

Romero left a wife, two children, and a grandchild in the Philippines. Fundraising efforts are underway to repatriate Romero’s body back to the Philippines.
