PNoy skips Duterte’s SONA anew

Former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has chosen to skip President Rodrigo Duterte’s annual address to Congress, the palace announced on Monday.

“The SONA, I prefer to watch it on TV so I can concentrate on what is being said rather than on the comments of the people I would be seated with,” Rappler quoted the former president as saying.

PNoy also did not attend last year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) citing the same reason.

Former presidents Fidel V. Ramos, Manila mayor Joseph Estrada, and Cong. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo are attending this year’s SONA.

Duterte will have a press conference right after he delivers his speech, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
