The United States is waiting for a clear list of demands or grievances against Qatar from Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies as it tries to resolve the diplomatic crisis in the region.
The demands to Qatar should be reasonable and actionable, said United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a statement on Wednesday.
“Our role has been to encourage the parties to get their issues on the table, clearly articulated, so that those issues can be addressed and some resolution process can get underway to bring this to a conclusion,” Tillerson said, according to a report from Inquirer.net.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump met with new Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday to discuss the regional crisis, the White House said in a statement.
“The two leaders discussed the priority of cutting off all support for terrorists and extremists, as well as how to resolve the ongoing dispute with Qatar,” the statement added.
Riyadh and its allies Egypt, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates cut ties with Qatar over Doha’s alleged support for extremist groups.
