Abu Dhabi police arrest driver for livestreaming while driving

Abu Dhabi Police have arrested a motorist for livestreaming on social media while driving, warning that the act posed a serious threat to public safety and the lives of other road users.

The arrest was carried out in coordination with the Monitoring and Control Centre after authorities identified the behaviour as reckless and dangerous. Police stressed that livestreaming behind the wheel causes severe distraction and can lead to fatal accidents.

“Lives are at risk,” authorities said, reiterating that roads are not a place for entertainment, showing off, or engaging with social media platforms. Any form of distracted driving endangers not only the driver but also passengers and other motorists.

The Traffic Directorate and Security Patrols confirmed that using social media while driving is classified as a major traffic violation due to the lack of focus and increased risk involved. Police emphasized that there is zero tolerance for such behaviour and that violators will face strict legal action.

Abu Dhabi Police urged all motorists to comply with traffic laws, avoid mobile phone use while driving, and prioritise safety at all times, underscoring that responsible driving is essential to protecting lives on the road.
