A true visionary leader with a golden heart. Game-changing leader. Innovator. There is no shortage of praises from the Filipino community for H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who recently marked 50 years of service to the nation.
The Vice President’s wise leadership has transformed Dubai into a major player on the global scene.
From heading the Dubai Police in 1968 to becoming the world’s youngest defense minister when the UAE was formed in 1971, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid spearheaded Dubai’s growth.
And with his generous heart for serving the masses, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also instituted several initiatives and awards aimed to uplift the spirit of giving and tolerance for the public through provision of facilities for education, employment, health, housing and many more.
Indeed, the UAE, home to a huge expatriate community of people from over 200 countries, continues to lead in innovation, technology and many more fields. Everyone agrees that all this would not have been possible if not for its visionary leaders like His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
No less than His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, acknowledged Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s achievements as he highlighted Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s unyielding spirit of serving the UAE wholeheartedly.
“Since assuming his first mission as the Head of Dubai Police, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid now completes 50 years in service to the Homeland, a march awash with resounding achievements, during which he accompanied the late Sheikh Zayed and late Sheikh Rashid in their life until he has become a role model for leadership and management,” said H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
Filipinos have also conveyed their message of appreciation for H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. Ambassador Hjayceelyn M. Quintana and Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes congratulated the Vice President on his golden anniversary of government service.
“The UAE has achieved great successes and massive accomplishments owing to the wisdom, optimism and dedication of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid,” said the ambassador.
“Undoubtedly, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed has set in place the foundations for a positive future for the UAE in terms of advancements in economy, culture and technology. Happiness for his people and the country’s residents coming from all parts of the world has always been his key motivation in bringing the UAE to where it is now, a model country not just for the region but for the world,” said the ambassador.
“Thank you, Maraming Salamat, Sheikh Mohammed; Shukran Bu Rashid, for not only enriching the UAE and the rest of the Arab world with your actions worth emulating for the past fifty years, but also for welcoming, protecting and inspiring the more than 700,000 Filipinos across the Emirates,” she added.
For his part, Cortes said H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s leadership is “a style that incorporates vision, innovation, deeper engagement with its constituency, and long-term strategic planning. These are what makes an extraordinary leadership, one that is worth emulating by the rest of the world.”
“Under his leadership, the UAE has grown leaps and bounds over the past 50 years, carving better lives not only for its citizens but for those who called it their second home as well. It has become a prosperous state, and more importantly, a responsible nation that seeks to provide opportunities for other nationals to make their and humanity’s lives better,” – Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes
The Filipino Times did the rounds, covering a good cross-section of the Pinoy community – from those in the academe to the highly skilled expats like engineers, and on to nannies, as well as from the old timers who have spent several years in the UAE to the newcomers – and got a good haul of messages for their beloved UAE leader.
