The world-renowned zipline in Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah is set to re-open soon, weeks after the helicopter crashed in the mountain that took the lives of four people.
In a statement, zipline operator ToroVerde Ras Al Khaimah said that the management is currently running a full assessment of the zipline area and that the zipline will re-open as soon as all maintenance work have been completed.
The management also advised its customers who had prior bookings to reschedule their visit or refund their payment.
“We regret that due to a serious incident which occurred on the mountain, the zipline facility has been temporarily closed… The safety and security of our customers is our utmost priority,” a portion of the statement read.
A rescue helicopter crashed in Jebel Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah on December 29, killing four people aboard.
According to a top official of National Ambulance, the rescue helicopter was on its way to Jebel Jais to airlift an injured man in the mountain. However, the helicopter hit a zipline before crashing to the ground and bursting into flames.
The incident took the lives of three Emirati crew members and a foreigner.
Meanwhile, no zipline visitor was hurt due to the incident but the zipline, which is considered as the longest zipline in the world, was immediately closed.
