Dubai Police have arrested three Arab men for fraud charges. The suspects were accused of stealing cars from unsuspecting buyers and sellers.
The suspects reportedly conducted the scam by posting advertisements on websites and social media and later on duped the interested buyers and sellers by giving them bouncing cheques.
The police said they received a complaint from one of their victims who was given a bouncing cheque from a suspended account, according to Khaleej Times.
The victim had agreed to sell the car for AED16,500 and he received the cheque from the seller. The cheque was found to be invalid.
The three suspects were able to sell the car to another buyer for AED34,000 before they were arrested.
They admitted to stealing two luxury cars using the same modus.
