Emirates releases guidelines for passengers travelling from UK to PH

The Philippine government has temporarily suspended all flights from the United Kingdom starting December 24 until December 31 due to the new coronavirus strain first detected in the United Kingdom.

Passengers who are already in transit and those who arrived in PH from UK before December 24 are exempted from entry restrictions, but they are required to undergo stricter quarantine and testing protocols.

The travellers are required to undergo 14-day quarantine in the Athlete’s Village in New Clark City regardless of RT-PCR test results.

“Outbound travel to the UK shall likewise be subject to existing exit protocols of PH and UK,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

The Department of Health said the temporary travel ban on UK flights could also curb the anticipated increase in COVID-19 cases in the country during the holiday season.

Travelling via Emirates Airline

Emirates airline has also released an update for its passengers travelling from the UK to the Philippines.

“All passengers that arrive before 12:01 AM of 24 December 2020, shall not be subject to the restriction, but shall be required to undergo mandatory completion of the 14‑day quarantine at New Clark City regardless of COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test results,” it said in an advisory.

“If you are travelling to the Philippines, you are required to take a COVID‑19 PCR test on arrival and wait for your test results at accredited quarantine hotels,” it added.

The cost of quarantine accommodations shall be shouldered by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for land‑based OFWs and by the local manning agency and/or Maritime Industry Authority for sea‑based OFWs. OFWs must present their Overseas Employment Card (OEC) or Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) card at the time of check‑in for validation.

Passengers, particularly Non‑OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers), may undergo the required COVID‑19 RT‑PCR swab test at the accredited private testing centres established at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at their own cost (approximately $80 or PHP 4,000).

For returning residents (Non‑Overseas Filipino workers) arriving in Manila, swabbing arrangements must be pre‑registered by accessing the Philippine Airport Diagnostic Laboratory.

Non‑OFWs, namely Overseas Filipinos (OFs) returning home can choose from among the approved quarantine facilities at their own cost. Before arriving at the airport, passengers must also complete the Case Investigation form, the Affidavit of Undertaking form, and the Health Declaration card.

Required forms

Non‑OFWs, seafarers, and foreign nationals must register using e‑CIF and provide the required information on the Clark International Airport website.

OFWs must complete the following forms:

COVID‑19 testing requirements

Passengers travelling from Philippines to Dubai and beyond on Emirates must present a printed copy of a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result certificate issued by a local government approved laboratory.

Passengers will only be accepted on the flight upon presenting the negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate at the time of check‑in.
