Local officials of Puerto Princesa complained about the lack of coordination by the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) as 86 Overseas Filipino Workers arrived on May 28 on short notice, reported Inquirer.net.
According to city administrator Arnel Pedrosa, the staff from Philippine Airlines (PAL) only informed them about the return of OFWs a few hours before their plane landed at Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPIA).

“They were already here, it’s not like we can turn them away. We have to make sure that none of them will turn out positive otherwise we will end up like Leyte,” Inquirer.net quoted Pedrosa as saying.
The city administrator was referring to the OFW who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) when he was already home in Leyte.
In a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, airport staff had prepared the facility and resources needed despite the short notice of the arrival of OFWs.
All OFWs were tested and found to be negative for the disease.
