Duterte ‘not pleased’ with SEA Games snafu, calls for probe

President Rodrigo Duterte is “not pleased”  to hear about complaints and controversies hounding the hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo revealed.

Panelo told reporters in South Korea that Duterte wants a probe on the allegations of incompetence and corruption in handling the international event.

“The President is not pleased of what he’s been hearing about certain snafu, certain delays, certain allegations of athletes not being fed properly, athletes arriving late or not on time delivered to their places of rest or residence. He’s displeased. Ayaw niya ‘yon,” Panelo said.

“There were allegations of fraud na lumalabas sa diyaryo, ayaw niya rin ‘yon. He wants to investigate that. Hindi uubra sa kaniya ang corruption,” Panelo added.

The President came back from South Korea, Tuesday night.

The hosting of the international sporting event triggered criticisms from foreign delegates which involve their food, transportation and accommodation.

Panelo said that the investigation will not exempt anyone including ally and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.

“Siguro kasama na lahat ‘yon kasi when you investigate a particular body kasama na lahat ‘yong kung sino involved dun,” Panelo said.

Malacañang, however, clarified that Duterte will not summon Cayetano anytime soon.

“Hindi na kailangan na ano kasi I think Speaker Alan has started explaining already. He issued a statement on allegations on irregularities even in the issue of cauldron, nage-explain naman siya,” he added.
