Malacañang lifts suspension on PCSO lotto operations

Presidential Spokesperson Sal Panelo confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte has lifted the suspension of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for lotto operations only.

“The Lotto operation is less-prone to corruption because it is machine-operated. Maraming umaasa tao ang umaasa sa Lotto,” Panelo said.

The lifting of the suspension is effective immediately.

This means that lotto operators can now resume their business.

Last week Duterte ordered the immediate closure of franchises, licenses or permits granted by the PCSO.

Panelo previously said the closure of over 30,000 lotto, Small Town Lottery (STL), Keno, and Peryahan ng Bayan outlets does not violate due process.

“It (PCSO) is a creation of the Office of the President. If it’s a creation of the Office of the President, the President can do that,” Panelo said.
