The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) will start implementing a new automated system that would allow people to apply for entry permits in just 15 seconds.

Dubbed as “Entry Permit 50+,” the new smart service can be accessed through GDRFA smart app or website, which allows a sophisticated AI system to scan documents and issue visas on the spot.

According to Major-General Mohammad Ahmed Al Marri, director general of GDRFA, the 50+ permitting service was able to process more than five million transactions with no human intervention.

This means that applicants will no longer have to wait and go to service centers to apply for visas or entry permits and renewals, which usually takes 4 to 6 hours.

The agency has been testing the system for a year now and has achieved 100 percent accuracy compared to human employees.

In fact, the 50+ AI system can track suspicious or wanted individuals, immediately alerting authorities.
