BREAKING: NBI nets suspect in Cebu teen’s slay

The boyfriend of Christine Silawan,16, was arrested and confessed to the crime of killing the Cebu student, as per the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

NBI did not disclose the name of the suspect as he is a minor but text messages and security footages helped them track his whereabouts.

To recall, the authorities were looking at the angle that the victim knew her killer because they had an exchange of messages.

The suspect was arrested in Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City on March 16.

Local reports in Cebu said the minor confessed that he had two other accomplices in committing the gruesome crime, saying that he killed the victim out of jealousy.

Central Visayas NBI Director Tomas Enrile on Monday said a manhunt operation is now underway for the other suspects.

“Yes, totoo po yun na nahuli na yung suspect sa pagpatay kay Christine Silawan,” Enrile confirmed.

The teenage girl was found half-naked and with face skinned to the bone in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Authorities said that the victim was stabbed on the neck, nine times on her upper extremities, and 20 times on different parts of her body.

Her internal organs are intact but her tongue was missing, as well as the skin on her face and muscles in her neck.

The autopsy report also showed that the victim was not raped, even though her body was found naked from the waist down.

It can be recalled that local police had arrested a suspect, 24-year-old Jonas Bueno, for a similar crime on but denied that was the killer of Silawan.
