The sniper radar, a powerful tool that pushes motorists to comply with traffic laws and speed limits, catches up to 170 traffic rule offenders, specifically overspeeding vehicles, in Ras Al Khaimah daily.
Colonel Ahmad Al-Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al-Khaimah Police, said that the sniper radar specializes in monitoring speed violations, but it has a lot of features, too.
It has a high-resolution digital camera that captures traffic offenders from 250 meters.
It may be small but it makes the job easy for authorities to catch motorists that do not comply with traffic rules.
Sniper radars can record 10-second quality videos, with the date, time, and location for easy reference in the event of an objection to the violation.
Al-Naqbi also stressed that the objective of having such radars is to increase awareness on the road safety initiative and reduce the number of road traffic fatalities—the latter being the top priority.
