Less than 24 hours after Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said that the water shortage in Metro Manila may be artificial, President Duterte on Friday ordered the release of water from the Angat Dam.
Duterte ordered MWSS to demand water concessionaires Manila Water Company, Inc., Maynilad Water Services, Inc., and other responsible offices to release water, equivalent to about 150 days, from Angat by noon time of March 15.
Panelo said that the order to supply the affected areas in Metro Manila and deliver, would resolve water shortage and distribute sufficient water to the residents.
Duterte said he would personally hold MWSS, Manila Water, and Maynilad liable for failure to comply with his order.
