Do Cebu Pacific, PAL have Boeing 737 Max 8 jets in their fleets?

After several countries decided to ground their Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes following the tragic Ethiopian Airlines crash, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines said that they do not have in their respective fleet a Boeing jet model.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the Philippines’ airlines said that they do not have the plane model which was involved in two aviation accidents in the past four months.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was the plane model involved in the tragic crash in Ethiopia that killed 157 people, as well as in the other one that took place in October when a Lion Air plane crashed into the sea killing all 189 passengers.

“We have no Boeing aircraft, and certainly no 737 in the Cebu Pacific fleet,” ABS-CBN News quoted Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Logarta as saying.

On the other hand, Philippine Airlines spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said, “We do not have such type of aircraft on our fleet.”

The country’s carriers made the statement after the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has ordered all Chinese airlines to temporarily suspend flights and ground their Boeing 737 Max 8 planes.

Aside from China, Cayman Airways has grounded both of its new 737 MAX 8 jets until more information was received.
