Salisi gang member who victimized over 20 OFWs falls

Authorities netted a “Salisi Gang” member who targeted overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The suspect, 24-year-old Rey John Manglay, would befriend newly arrived OFWs at the airport before stealing money and other belongings from them, reported Inquirer.net.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal said that Manglay has victimized over 20 OFWs.

The MIAA chief also said that Manglay would use different identities when he meets OFWs.

He was arrested at NAIA Terminal 3 on Sunday after authorities were able to recognize him through CCTV footages.

The Salisi gang member’s arrest came after an OFW from Kuwait named Harija Panayaman Hamsa filed a complaint against him.

Hamsa said that Manglay welcomed her at NAIA Terminal 1 and later accompanied her to Terminal 3.

The OFW said that suspect ran away with her belongings worth P200,000 when she went to the bathroom and entrusted Manglay to watch over her things.

Charges are now being prepared against Manglay.
