OFW found hanging in his office; wife smells foul play

The wife of the overseas Filipino worker who allegedly committed suicide in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia suspected foul play in the death of her husband.

In a report by GMA News online, Gilda Merced Dayanan called for an immediate autopsy on the body of her husband, Roger Dayanan, who was found hanging in his workplace on Wednesday.

The widow said that she did not believe Roger could commit suicide, noting that there was nothing unusual in their last video call conversation a day before his alleged suicide.

Dayanan was allegedly receiving death threats from co-worker named “Riyad” after the former discovered anomalies and illegal activities.

According to Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, there is no automatic autopsy in the territory, especially on suspicious deaths.

Vice Consul Lemuel Lopez, head of Assistance to Nationals, said that they have already informed Dayanan’s employers and are now seeking the help of the ministry of foreign affairs to investigate on the case further.
