The Dubai Court of First Instance heard the case of two maids who have been accused of stealing cash, clothes, and jewellery collectively worth more than Dh14,500 from their sponsor.
The two Filipina, aged 47 and 29, are facing charges for stealing at least 67 pieces of shoes and other clothing items, Dh10,000-worth of jewellery, and Dh4,500 in cash, reported Khaleej Times.
They allegedly stole travel bags, kitchenware, a cell phone, cosmetic products, and other items.
The Emirati sponsor said her husband woke her up one morning after finding out that their Filipino maids were missing.
The female sponsor added that five travel bags kept in a storage room near their kitchen had also been missing. She said that there were belongings inside those bags.
The sponsor’s husband filed a complaint at Al Rashidiya Police Station against the two Filipino maids and an arrest warrant was issued immediately against them. They have since been detained, but there was no detail as to when they were arrested.
The court will issue a ruling on February 25.
