Solar-powered bus shelters around Sharjah open

The bus shelters open at 6 AM to 12 midnight.

Monitors inside the shelters flash the timing of buses to various routes.

This is the first phase of the proposed 172 bus shelters that will be set up in the emirate.

Twenty eight bus shelters around Sharjah have been opened by Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) to offer cool relief for commuters.

This is the first phase of the 172 air-conditioned bus shelters project that was first approved by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah, in 2016 following a six-month SRTA-approved study, which identified the areas most frequented by public transport users.

Commuters can use the solar-powered shelters from 6AM to 12 midnight. Electronic screens are set up inside with the bulletin of bus timing and respective routes.

The 28 bus shelters are set up Al Wahd Street, King Faisal Street, Al Dhaid St and Airport Rd, Al Zahra Street, and Clock Square.
