A Filipino salesman stands trial for assaulting a police in Dubai who tried to arrest him for stealing a lost phone in a restroom of a mall.
The police explained before the Dubai Court of First Instance that the 31-year old salesman took the phone left behind by one of the shoppers. When he asked the salesman to return it to its rightful owner, the latter refused forcing the cop to handcuff him, reported Khaleej Times.
The salesman pushed the cop who fell to the ground and sustained injuries. The cop’s colleague helped restrain the salesman and took him to the station.
During interrogation, the salesman admitted to taking the phone and bringing it home to his place. Dubai Police later on searched the salesman’s home where the phone was eventually found.
The court ruling will be released on November 11.
