Duterte set to ‘speak to the nation’ today—Palace

President Rodrigo Duterte will be “speaking to the nation” on Tuesday, September 11, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced.

During a press briefing, Roque said that Duterte announced in Davao City that he would like to address the nation tomorrow around 3 in the afternoon.

The time is still subject to change depending on the schedule of the president.

No further details on what the speech is about was released.

“Well he announced in Davao that he wants to speak to the nation,” Roque told reporters. “And if I’m not mistaken, it is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon,” Roque said.

The announcement was made amid several issues faced by the country such as rising inflation rate, weakening peso, and rice shortage, as well the controversial revocation of the amnesty of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

Duterte is in Davao following his arrival from his state visit in the Middle East.
