A total of 97 undocumented overseas Filipino workers from the UAE have arrived on Wednesday morning, September 5, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The third batch of OFWs who availed of the visa amnesty in the UAE were able fly home via Philippine Airlines flight No. 659 and arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 8:45 AM.

The Philippine government shouldered the expenses for their airfare and exit permits as well as financial assistance worth P5,000 each which was given to them upon their arrival in Manila.

The DFA also encouraged overstaying Filipinos in the Gulf country to avail of its amnesty program which will last until October 31.

The Department of Labor and Employment earlier said that over 100,000 overstaying overseas Filipino workers in the UAE are expected to benefit from the three-month-long amnesty scheme of the Gulf country.
