2nd batch of Filipino amnesty grantees returns home

DUBAI: The second batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who availed of the visa amnesty in the UAE were able fly home from the Dubai International Airport Terminal 1 on Saturday evening. They arrived in Manila today, August 26, on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 659.

The Philippine government shouldered the expenses for their airfare and exit permits as well as financial assistance.

The domestic air fare of those OFWs who will be returning to their respective home provinces will also be shouldered by the government.

The Department of Labor and Employment earlier said that over 100,000 overstaying overseas Filipino workers in the UAE are expected to benefit from the three-month-long amnesty scheme of the Gulf country.
