OFW in Saudi Arabia takes own life

An overseas Filipino worker from Pangasinan took his own life by hanging himself in his flat in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

According to a report by RMN, the body of the Filipino, who was said to be an furniture factory worker, was found hanging in his residence yesterday, July 30.

The Department of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences to the family of the departed OFW.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano added that DFA sympathizes with the family for their loss.

Edgar B. Badajos, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, also said that the consulate has already asked Saudi authorities to probe on the death of the OFW.

Badajos also promised to provide all necessary assistance to repatriate the remains of the OFW.

The same report stated that this is the second time an OFW has taken his own life in the western region of the Gulf country.
