by | TOP STORIES

Filipino boxing champion turned senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has reminded the world of boxing on Sunday, July 15, that he’s not quite done yet.

His classic multiple-punch combination sealed his seventh round technical knockout win against his Argentine opponent Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pacquiao showed speed from the moment the bill rang in the first round, throwing powerful jabs and punches against Matthysse.

The Filipino boxer carried the momentum all the way to the third round pulling off a powerful left uppercut which led to a Matthysse’s first knockdownfueling Pacquiao’s enthusiasm. He threw more punches from different angles leaving Matthysse rattled.

Right before the end of the fifth round, Pacquiao dropped Matthysse to the ring for the second time, after releasing a right hand punch that landed on the Argentine boxer.

Several punches were also released by the hard-hitting Matthysse all throughout the match. However, Pacquiao had a quick response for each punch and jab.

The exchange continued until the seventh round before Pacquiao released his signature left uppercut which led to Matthysse’s third knockdown and his eventual loss.

With more than two minutes before the game ended, referee Kenny Bayless began counting down for Matthysse to recover before declaring Pacquiao the winner.

With this victory, Pacquiao takes the WBA welterweight title and a personal career record of 60 wins and 7 losses, with 39 of his wins as knockouts.
