WATCH: Attempt to smuggle Dh11 M worth of luxury cars botched

Thirteen foreigners were netted by the Dubai Police for attempting to smuggle a string of 46 luxury cars worth Dh11 million out of the country.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said the suspects used visit visas to enter the country and overrode the computer systems of the stolen cars to smuggle them out, reported Gulf News.

 

The Dubai Police released on Twitter lauded the efforts of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Lt. Colonel Adel Al Jukar, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, said the gangs followed a specific modus operandi which was detected by the police’s data analysis center.

A series of operations by the Dubai Police in cooperation with Sharjah and Ajman Police resulted in the arrest of the thirteen men of different nationalities from four different gangs and the retrieval of the cars.

The cars were found in different locations: 17 were waiting at a port to be smuggled out on a cargo ship; 13 were at a storehouse in Al Aweer; four were being used by the suspects; and 12 more were hidden in different parts of the UAE.
