PH to probe death of 2 OFWs in Saudi, Lebanon

The Department of Foreign Affairs seeks to investigate the death of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) working as household service workers (HSWs) in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
In a statement, DFA said initial reports claim that the two OFWs took their own lives.
The Philippine embassies in Riyadh and Beirut are set to continue coordinating with investigators “to see to it that there was no foul play in the deaths of the two Filipina domestic workers.”
The OFW in Saudi was found dead inside her employer’s home in Al Hasa on June 12, while the lifeless body of the OFW in Lebanon was found on June 11.
The identities of the OFWs were withheld, although it was revealed that the two workers were originally from Cagayan and Agusan del Sur.
“We are deeply saddened by the news that two of our kababayan reportedly decided to take their own lives while working abroad and away from their families,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said.
“Our thoughts and prayers to the loved ones they left behind.”
DFA has promised to help the families left behind by the OFWs, particularly on the repatriation of their remains.
