Trillanes responds to Duterte’s statement that will be shot ‘someday’ for his arrogance

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has responded to President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement that he might be shot someday for his “arrogance”.

Trillanes said the President is the one who wants him dead for standing against him.

“Now, as to his threat that somebody would shoot me someday, only Duterte would want me dead because it irks him that somebody dared to stand toe to toe with him,” Trillanes said in a statement.

Trillanes added that he is not afraid to be shot and dared the President to order someone to do the act.

“Go ahead, Mr Duterte, order somebody to shoot me and, I assure you, it would lead to your end,” Trillanes said.

In his speech in Cebu, Duterte said the senator is “always trying to act tough and threatening” which would lead someone to shoot the senator “someday.”

“He [Trillanes] believes that he’s the only tough one around because nobody fought him back. But there will come a day that someone will shoot him because he’s arrogant,” Duterte said in Cebuano.

The President added that Trillanes “thinks better than he is” due to his involvement in the Armed Forces’ Navy.

Since Duterte assumed presidential seat, Trillanes had become one of Duterte’s biggest critics.

In February, Trillanes filed a resolution to ask the Senate committee on banks, financial institutions and currencies to probe into the bank accounts of President Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Trillanes cited the alleged undeclared bank records of the President and his daughter amounting to more than P500,000 in their Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN), as per the documents obtained by the VERA Files from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).

He also supported the suggestion of the United Nations (UN) human rights chief that President Duterte should take a psychiatric evaluation.

“His murderous and erratic ways plus his crass, twisted, and perverted statements are indicative of a deeply sick mind. Hindi ‘yan normal na pag-iisip, lalo na ng isang Filipino,” Trillanes said.
