Government Corporate Counsel Rudolf Philip Jurado has drawn the ire of President Rodrigo Duterte for allegedly issuing a legal opinion allowing the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone (APECO) to approve a 75-year permit to a casino operator.
The President sacked Jurado during his speech in Malacañang, saying, “May I call the government corporate counsel now? Are you here? Because if you are here, come out. You are fired.”
The President who said he detests gambling added: “There are many lawyers there. There are thousands of lawyers waiting [to be hired],”
Jurado has denied any irregularity involving his legal opinion.
