UAE leaders order salary bonus for all gov’t employees

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered that one-month bonuses be given to government employees in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, on May 6.

These employees include all serving and retired government employees, civilians and military, as well as beneficiaries of social welfare services.

“Sheikh Zayed was the symbol of giving during his lifetime and even after his death. Today, 100 years have passed since the birth of Sheikh Zayed, and the UAE will remain strong and stable for hundreds of years because of him,” the President said.

Following the President’s order, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai announced a salary bonus for all government employees in Dubai.

On top of this, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has instructed the payment of bonuses to be released before Eid al-Fitr.

The UAE government has reportedly earmarked Dh1.6 billion to fund the bonuses, including one month basic salary, with Dh50,000 as maximum and Dh5,000 as minimum.

Retirees get to take home a minimum bonus of Dh10,000 up to Dh50,000.
