Meralco power rates hike Php0.23 per kwh in April

For the third straight time this year, consumers will experience hike in power rates as the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced increase of Php0.23 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this April.

According to Meralco, the  Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) increased its charges by Php1.6441/kWh due to increase in demand caused by warmer temperature.

This move meant per kWh charges will increase from Php10.32 in March to Php10.55 in April.

Consumers who use 200 kWh will experience a Php45 increase in their April bill, while those who consume 300 kWh will see an increase of P67.50.

Meanwhile, those who consume 400 kWh will have an increase of P90 in their next electric bill, while those who consume 500 kWh will have an increase of P112.50.
