The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has allotted a total of PHP 60 million worth of livelihood and emergency employment assistance to around 10,000 workers and evacuees affected by the latest Mayon Volcano eruption.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced that the department has set aside PHP 30 million for emergency employment and another PHP 30 million for livelihood assistance to evacuated worker families.

“We are providing support to the victims, especially in assisting displaced workers from the devastation brought by the continuing eruption of Mayon,” he said in a statement.

Bello added that DOLE is providing short-term income support and livelihood assistance to the affected families during their stay in the evacuation centers.

On the other hand, families of active overseas Filipino workers affected by Mayon’s outburst received PHP3,000 worth of assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
