PAL is now certified 4-star airline

Global aviation rating firm Skytrax has upgraded its rating on flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) to 4-star for significant improvements in its in-flight and ground services in the last two years.

It is the first and only airline from the Philippines, and one of the 40 carriers across the globe to earn the title.

This places PAL at par with other international airlines such as Emirates, British Airways, Air Canada, Air France, Bangkok Airways, Japan Airlines, KLM, Korean Air and Qantas Airways.

Aside from 88 aircrafts in its fleet, PAL also targets to open a “bigger and more sophisticated” lounge for its business class passengers and frequent flyers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 by the second quarter of 2018.

PAL chair and chief executive Lucio Tan said that the 4-star-rating of PAL adds another feather on its cap. “This is a big win for the Philippines,” he said.

“We are elated by this recognition, which is a victory for the more than 7,000 members of the [PAL] family. Our achievement is the country’s achievement and we share this with all Filipinos around the globe,” he added.
