Dubai-based OFW makes surprise return home to fulfill his daughters’ wish

It is really hard to be miles away from our loved ones for quite a long time. This case is especially true for us overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

Every day is a tough battle with loneliness and it seems to hurt a little more during special occasions back home, like our children’s birthday and during the holiday season.

Recently, a Dubai-based OFW decided to make his surprise return memorable for his two daughters and sneak into a fast-food chain to surprise them.

He disguised as one of the staff of a Jollibee branch in Iligan while serving the food order of his unsuspecting daughters.

He goes by unnoticed for a moment, but it doesn’t last long once the girls catch sight of him as can be seen in the video below.

Since he started working in Dubai, they had not seen each other for three long years. The two girls, though, felt that their father was just beside them at that moment.

The girls saw the bracelet that they had made for and sent to him to Dubai to comfort him when sadness strikes.

And so the best treat for them happened like real magic at that moment!

Watch their heart-wrenching reunion in the video below.

OFW life and parents’ sacrifices

My brother in law has been working as a nurse in Dubai for more than three years now and he has not come home since then.

My sister Reizl (his wife), who is currently working in Bohol, entrusted us their two daughters. She has just returned to work after finishing her Doctorate.

Flashback

Their daughters, Breanna and Chayyen, had survived a lot in life at such a young age. Being separated from their parents was the hardest.

They were victims of an earthquake in Bohol, too.

My sister pushed herself to finish her PhD. While doing so, she decided to entrust her daughters to our eldest sister in MSU, Marawi City to continue her studies.

However, when the Marawi Siege happened, things changed 360 degrees.

Hearing all those guns and bombs almost incessantly, they planned their escape from the area.

They travelled 10-long hours to escape the war-torn city and decided to transfer them here in Iligan City under my care.

Birthday wish

Yenny is about to turn 8 years old this coming November 20, 2017. All she’s wishing for is to see her family complete again.

She wished to see her daddy and mommy on Christmas day or if not possible on her birthday. She said and I quote, “Mommy Juv, I will pray a million times because daddy told me he might come home.”

They are smart children because they understand why their dad and mom are working hard… And it is for them.

Sometimes, at night, I saw them both hugging and comforting each other. They are the sweetest nieces.

The surprise

One day, my brother in law called me up and told me that he is coming home.

He had asked me to set up a surprise and, if possible, he would like to wear a Jollibee uniform.

Gladly, the manager of Jollibee Tubod Ros. Heights allowed him to wear a jolly cap and pretend that he was one of the Jollibee crew.

Here’s a very touching video that happened recently at Jollibee.

Breanna and Chayyen did not recognize their daddy right away, but Breanna noticed the handmade bracelet made by her sister Chayyen that was sent to Dubai for their Dad 2764

Glenn once told me he does not take it off for it comforts him when the loneliness and sadness of being far away from his daughters strike him.

Thank you Jollibee Tubod, Iligan City.
