Filipina named UAE’s Best Nanny anew

For the second year in a row, a Filipina has been named the UAE’s Best Nanny, an annual award given by Rise, a wealth management platform for migrants workers.

This time, 44-year-old Melanie Manansala bagged the awards and bested 500 other nominees from across the UAE.

She will take home a retirement fund worth 1 million pesos and a plane ticket back home, courtesy Air Arabia.

More than twenty years ago, the Filipina decided to fly here to work as a nanny for a Lebanese family.

Her loyalty and dedication to the job enabled her to stay with them for 12 years, reported Gulf News.

Even though she’s now with a new employer, Manansala said she has kept a good relationship and still in touch with her previous employer.

“I’m so happy with the award, I almost can’t believe it! I already [have] savings for my retirement, which I believe is very important, and every nanny should do so too,” the report quoted her as saying.

“With this prize,” she said, “my dream can come true to open a supermarket in my home country after my retirement as a nanny.”

Manansala also shared that every nanny must be proud of what they do.

“I think I am proud of my job because I love what I’m doing. I like being with children, they return the love that you give to them,” she said.

While thanking Rise for the recognizing the contribution of nannies in the UAE and in society, she also shared the importance of saving for the future during the awarding function.

Last year, three Filipinas were also recognized, but the UAE’s Best Nanny award went to then 29-year old, Lorina Bunio.
