SSS eyes to provide members who lose jobs with financial aid

Social Security System revealed that a new law aimed to provide its members who lose their jobs with financial aid is being crafted.

The head of the pension fund said Tuesday that those who are “involuntarily” separated from work may get up to 80 percent of their monthly salary for up to 6 months.

“What we want is during their separation from work, they should also be encouraged to actively look for work,” SSS President Emmanuel Dooc told ANC.

“That will require retraining, making them fit to seek other employment different from their previous job,” he said.

Starting next year, SSS members can also access the posting of their contributions and loan payments in real time, Dooc said.

“This will truly facilitate the transactions, the granting of loans, the approval of loans, the payment of benefits,” he said.
