The elegant emerald green gown fully imbedded with Swarovski crystals that actress Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez wore the night she won the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 title was a creation of Dubai-based iconic Filipino couturier, Ezra Santos.
Ezra, himself a recipient of the 2016 The Filipino Times Fashion Designer of the Year Award, told TFT in a phone interview that it was his first time to dress up a beauty pageant contestant.
“I am blessed and honored. We met up in Manila a month before the pageant. She talked about what she wants to wear. She said she wanted it in emerald green. When I saw her, I knew she will be a winner,” Santos said.
Santos, who was also TFT’s 2016 Rizal Awardee, said the gown “accentuated” Marquez’ body. “The dress was very simple, but the most important thing is that it accentuated her shoulder and her body. She really walked beautifully. It’s a bit of a heavy dress having been fully imbedded with Swarovski crystals of different sizes,” Ezra said.
The 25-year-old Marquez won the title during the pageant held at Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia. She had won several awards during the early stages of the beauty contest. Media reports described her in her Ezra gown as “stunning.”
