The Pakistani man who attempted to sexually abuse a Filipina behind a truck on the roadside will spend six months behind bars.
The 24-year-old man, who works as a construction worker, previously denied the rape charges and consumption of alcohol without a license when he appeared before the Court, reported Khaleej Times.
But the court found him guilty and was sentenced to six months in prison, a Dh2,000 fine on the alcohol consumption charge, and deportation, the report said.
The public prosecution documents stated that the man was sitting next to the Filipina at Al Quoz bus station at around 10:30 PM on July 12 when he suddenly grabbed and dragged her behind a heavy truck and tried to rape her.
The Filipina, a 33-year-old accountant, said that she noticed the guy was staring at him inappropriately and moved away from him.
“He came closer again when I stood up. I told him to stay away or I would call the police but he did not listen. I got scared and picked up a stick with which I hit him on his hand twice but he snatched it and threw it away,” she said.
The Filipina also said that she kept screaming after the man grabbed her.
Four men arrived at the incident and stopped the man from raping the Filipina.
Medical record show the victim sustained a knee injury as well as foot bruises from the attack.
