BREAKING: PSG officer found shot to death in Malacañang Park

A member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) was found dead inside his quarters at the Malacañang compound on Tuesday, September 26.

The victim, identified as Major Harim Gonzaga, had a gunshot wound to the chest, ABS-CBN News reported.

PSG chief Lope Dagoy said the body was discovered at 8:50 am and noted that there were no signs of struggle at the scene.

“We cannot speculate. Mahirap sabihing suicide. We don’t have all the data,” he was quoted as saying.

Gonzaga, 37, worked as part of the Presidential escort.

As for President Rodrigo Duterte’s whereabouts during the incident, the PSG chief said he was most likely in the compound, inside Bahay Pagbabago.

“I assume the President was there pero malayo naman iyan sa lugar ng pinanggalingan ng putok,” he added.

In a press briefing earlier, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said authorities are still determining the circumstances of the incident.

“Of course it’s a matter of concern. However, we need to clarify exactly what it was all about,” Abella said.
