95% of residents feel safe in Dubai —survey says

Up to 95.3 percent of residents in Dubai feel secure in the emirate while about 97.8 percent of the emirate’s people trust in the integrity of Dubai Police, according to the latest study conducted by the Public Opinion Center of the Dubai Police.

The study, which aims to measure the feeling of security and lack of concern about crime of Dubai residents and expatriates saw the participation from Asians, Arabs, and other foreign nationalities.

“UAE, since its establishment at the start of the 1970s, has created “a unique model rarely found in other countries, as it has succeeded in establishing good relations in a community with many races, nationalities and social backgrounds, while providing security and safety across the country and protecting the rights of individuals and organisations, based on laws and legislations that honour their rights, and a just legal system that is efficient in deciding verdicts in local cases,” Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Criminal Investigation Affairs at the Dubai Police, as saying.

Al Mansouri added that the level of security and safety felt by UAE residents are the cornerstones for development, leadership, and a decent life in the country.

Dubai was ranked 14th in a mid-year safety index released last July with an index of 80.39 while UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, came out on top as the world’s safest city with an index of 86.46.
