In August 2017, the Filipino cleaner slashed his supervisor’s niece in the neck, who was about to start her job as a nurse in Abu Dhabi, using a knife at her residence in Jebel Ali.

The report said the suspect went to his supervisor’s house to negotiate his Dh6,000 debt, which he incurred for quitting his job before the end of his contract.

The cleaner grabbed a knife after the Filipina told him that the supervisor was not around.

The Filipina supervisor said she was friends with the assailant. “The suspect and other co-workers used to come over to my flat to dine and spend some time … we were friends and used to cook together,” Gulf News quoted the Filipina as saying.”

“A week prior to the incident, I saw him in a supermarket and he asked me to help him … I told him that I would try,” she testified to prosecutors,” she added.

After the crime, the cleaner went to his brother and instructed him to call the police and arrest him.
