Trillanes denies he offered woman P500,000 bribe to testify vs Duterte

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV denies the accusation of a woman from Davao City who claims that his camp tried to bribe her to testify against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Supposed witness, Guillermina Arcillas, who introduced herself as a businesswoman, alleged that several people of Sen. Trillanes offered her P500,000 to lie about the President and another P500,000 if her claims would lead to a case before the International Criminal Court.

The senator pointed finger at Arcillas who first approached his camp in November last year, revealing that she can connect the President to the illegal drug trade.

“We have ways of validating information, checking things on the ground — hindi nag-check out. May mga mahirap paniwalaan sa kanyang mga statements kaya hindi namin inilabas,” ABS-CBN News quoted Trillanes as saying.

The senator surmised that “groups supporting President Duterte” may be behind Arcillas.

“I’m beginning to think na baka ito ay itinanim sa amin para kung kakagat kami, ilalabas namin tapos babaligtad later on,” he said.

Trillanes, as one of the top critics of Duterte, was instrumental to the appearance of self-tagged hitman Edgar Matobato and Arturo Lascañas, who testified in separate Senate inquiry about the President’s alleged ties to Davao death Squad.
