A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight coming from Saudi Arabia and travelling to Manila was not able to take off after its engine encountered some trouble, stranding hundreds of passengers Friday.
“Nagkaroon ng issue ang aming eroplano pero nakakasiguro sila na ginagawan na ng solusyon ito. Humihingi lang kami ng pangunawa mula sa aming pasahero,” PAL spokeswoman Cielo Villaluna explained during an interview with DZMM.
Villaluna said PAL would have the flight back in Manila by Saturday.
One of the passengers, Virginia Medina told DZMM, on a separate conversation, that there were some 300 people aboard the PR 655 flight. Medina added that the plane was supposed to depart the King Salid International Airport in Riyadh late Thursday, but they were asked to disembark due to engine failure.
Medina said passengers whose visas have not yet expired were booked in hotels, while those whose exit permits have already been stamped spent the night at the airport.
