UAE petrol prices to hike by 5%

The UAE petrol prices are expected to hike by 5 percent next month, UAE Ministry of Energy said on Sunday.

This is the second consecutive rise in 2017, though prices had fallen in December 2016. The price of petrol will have increased by 26 percent since February last year when the increase is applied.

Special grade petrol (95 octane) will retail at $0.51 (AED1.89) per liter, an increase of 5 percent from $0.49 (AED1.80) a liter, in January.

Super (98 octane) grade will sell for $0.54 (AED2) per liter, up 4.71 per cent from $0.52 (AED1.91) per liter, while the price of E Plus gasoline (91 octane) will retail for $0.50 (AED1.82) per liter, a rise of 5.2 percent from $0.47 (AED1.73) per liter.

Diesel will retail at $0.54 (AED2) a liter from $0.53 (AED1.94) a liter, up 3.09 per cent.
