Airlines in UAE issue advisory on delays due to heavy fog

A number of flights in Dubai have been delayed due to heavy fog urging passengers to check their airline online advisories for anticipated delays.

“If you are travelling from Dubai, please note that the journey time to the airport may take longer and please check the status of your flight before you set off for the airport,” flydubai said.

Yesterday, at least 158 outbound and inbound flights in Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports were either delayed or cancelled.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel and home to long-haul carrier Emirates, saw flight delays. Delays also hit Abu Dhabi and Sharjah’s international airports.

Emirates also advises passengers departing or arriving at Dubai International Airport during this period to check their flight status on their website for the latest information regarding their flights.

High humidity and falling temperatures cause the fog to roll in seasonally along the coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

Heavy fog transformation also was observed on Abu Dhabi-Dubai, Abu Dhabi-Al Ain and Abu Dhabi Al Ghweifat highways and visibility was reduced to 50 metres.
