Why Pinoy expats’ love for food isn’t a bad thing

DUBAI: Giant restaurant owners in the UAE reveal that the Filipinos’ love for eating has been the primary reason why there is an apparent boom of Filipino restaurants in the country.

Filipinos are prioritizing eating before their hearts and mind said Maribel Hernaez,head marketing marketing and events, ABS-CBN Europe and Middle East and Africa.

Investors are bullish about putting up Filipino restaurants in the UAE as they are the third largest population and one of the most influential diaspora in the world.

In a forum conducted by the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition on Saturday, September 24, 2016, experts say that in a study conducted by various food research industries, the usual worldwide three meals per day is stretched to 6 meals by Pinoy expats.

In fact, bonding or talking over food is one of the common traits that has been taken by OFWs abroad.

Meanwhile, Smart Shelter managing director Rohit Dalmia stressed that this should not be taken negatively, as Pinoy expats are known for working day in and day out. Thus, they deserve premium and quality food products.

Houssam Malak, sole owner, Fiesta Pinoy, said that the number of restaurant s in the area now increased to 28 from 11 in June last year.
