Arbues to OFWs: Contribute to the economy growth through investments

DUBAI: The Philippines is where the action is, so overseas Filipino workers should seize the opportunity and be part of the growth, said Manuel U. Arbues III, regional head for North America and Middle East, Ayala Land International Sales, Incorporated.

“It is not just given back to the Philippines. It is not just buying for our relatives, or buying a place to stay at, when you are in a vacation to the Philippines. It is not just having a property in the Philippines. It is giving back to the Philippines. Participate in the growth, contribute to the growth of the Philippines,” said Arbues.

“Kasi a lot of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have achieved a lot, accomplished all over the world”, he added.

He even emphasized that other nationalities like Japanese, Malaysian and Indonesian, Singaporean, Chinese are seeing the impressive growth of the Philippines and now investing in property and business.

“Paganda nang  paganda  ang economy, and then internationally we are also being recognized  amidst all the changes, the Philippine economy is getting strong. And yung surrounding areas, yung mga countries are not developing as fast as the Philippines. So yung mga tao ngayon the tendency is to invest in the Philippines,” Arbues said.

Arbues attributed the growth to the three factors: OFWs’ remittances, tourism and business process outsourcing industry which he said has expanded to cover not only call centers, but other fields like engineering and medical practice among others.

Experts said the Philippine economy has been growing at annual rate of 6 percent.
